Commercial Trailer Reflective Tape Inspection & Replacement

We help commercial fleets find missing, damaged or worn trailer conspicuity markings and replace them with reflective tape - with every trailer's unit number, VIN, photos and work on record.

Peeling tape is easy to miss - until someone else notices.

Reflective tape is what makes a trailer visible at night. It fades, peels and gets torn off at the docks, and missing markings are a common finding at roadside. We check each trailer, write down what's missing or damaged, fix it, and give you a record of exactly what was done.

What's included

  • Trailer identification
  • VIN and unit number on record
  • Visual marking assessment
  • Before-and-after photos
  • Record of missing or damaged tape
  • Replacement of reflective tape
  • Materials and labor tracked
  • Completed service report
  • Your approval and signature
  • Report you can save as a PDF

What we look at on each trailer

For trailers covered by the federal conspicuity rule (49 CFR 393.11, which points to the reflective materials in FMVSS 108), the markings we check are:

  • Sides - alternating red and white tape along the sides.
  • Rear lower bar - alternating red and white across the full width.
  • Rear upper corners - white tape at the top corners.
  • Rear impact guard - alternating red and white across the guard.

Not every trailer has the same requirements - they depend on the trailer's width, weight rating, type and when it was built. We record what applies to each trailer instead of assuming they're all the same.

Pricing depends on trailer size, how much material it takes, access to the trailers, and the condition of the old tape and surfaces. You get a written quote before any work starts.

Please note: Our tape service is limited to the agreed visual assessment and marking work. It is not a DOT annual (periodic) inspection, a government certification, or a guarantee that a trailer meets every regulation that applies to it.

Track every trailer in one place.

5th Bull software keeps trailer maintenance, inspections and repair history together. It's optional - you never need it to hire us.
